Atlantic Immigration Pilot
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) is a specialized immigration program designed to address labor shortages in Canada’s Atlantic provinces—Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. This program enables designated employers in these provinces to hire skilled workers and international graduates and offers a streamlined pathway to permanent residency for qualified applicants.
A collaborative initiative between the federal government and the four Atlantic provinces, the AIPP facilitates the recruitment and retention of foreign talent, helping newcomers successfully integrate into Atlantic Canada’s economy and communities.
The AIPP offers three main pathways:
1. Skilled Workers
To qualify under the Atlantic High-Skilled Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
✔ Job Offer: A full-time, non-seasonal job offer from a designated employer in one of the Atlantic provinces for a skilled occupation (NOC 0, A, or B).
✔ Work Experience: At least one year of relevant work experience in a similar occupation within the last three years.
✔ Education: A high school diploma or higher (assessed for equivalency if obtained outside Canada).
✔ Language Proficiency: A minimum of CLB 4 in English or French on a recognized language test (IELTS, CELPIP, TEF, or TCF).
✔ Settlement Funds: Proof of sufficient funds to support yourself and your family upon arrival in Canada.
2. International Graduates
If you have graduated from a publicly funded institution in Atlantic Canada, you may qualify under the Atlantic International Graduate Program, provided you meet these conditions:
✔ Job Offer: A full-time, non-seasonal offer from a designated employer in an NOC 0, A, or B occupation.
✔ Education: Completion of a degree, diploma, or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution in an Atlantic province within the last two years.
✔ Language Proficiency: Minimum CLB 4 in English or French.
✔ Intent to Reside: A demonstrated intention to live and work in the province where your job offer is located.
3. Intermediate-Skilled Workers
For applicants with job offers in intermediate-skilled positions (NOC C), the Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program provides a route to permanent residency. Eligible applicants must:
✔ Job Offer: Have a full-time, non-seasonal job offer in an NOC C occupation from a designated employer.
✔ Work Experience: Have at least one year of relevant work experience in a similar occupation.
✔ Language Proficiency: Meet the CLB 4 requirement in English or French.
✔ Education: Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
AIPP key features include faster processing, LMIA exemption, employer-supported settlement, and pathway for graduates & workers.
